F A Q
Do I need a referral from my primary vet to be seen?
No, you do not need a referral from your primary vet to begin the rehabilitation process at Water4Dogs. Our team of veterinary doctors are dually accredited and can complete a thorough assessment during your evaluation.
Will you share findings with my pet’s other healthcare providers?
Of course! We believe in teamwork and provide each owner and referring veterinarian with a detailed discharge letter including our assessment, treatment plan and any additional recommendations for your pet.
Do you accept pet insurance?
While we do not directly accept insurance, our team can help you submit claims and assist with reimbursement. We are currently unable to accept CareCredit.
Are vaccines required?
New York State requires that all dogs are up to date with their rabies, bordetella (kennel cough) and distemper vaccines given by a licensed veterinarian. In rare cases, patients with health conditions that preclude vaccination may obtain a waiver from our veterinarian prior to engaging in therapy.
Is it necessary for me to accompany my pet?
While it is important for the primary owner to be present for the initial exam, we do not require you to accompany your pet to follow-up appointments. We are able to offer a 3 hour grace period for daycare, without charge, should you need it.
Do I need to bring anything?
Just your pet! We provide towels, life jackets, harnesses and everything else you will need for your appointment.
